Simone, James, and Ian three actual brothers decided to get together and create a monster.
A monster full of sounds, sorrows, happiness, loves, adventures, all mixed with raw emotion
and real talent. That great big beautiful monster to our ears became known as the Felice Brothers.
Hailing from New York's Catskill mountains, the three brothers were born to a carpenter, and
are the three oldest boys from a family of seven. Eventually, they gained a new brother,
19 year old bass player Christmas. The legend of Christmas was that he was a runaway
dice-thrower and chancer until the brothers coaxed him to quit his job and join the band.
With the band intact they moved their Sunday BBQ sing-alongs into a ramshackle recording
studio, and performed their monster in the streets & subways of New York City. When they
traveled, their getaway was a 1987 special education bus. One day while performing at a
farm-market in Brooklyn trying to feed their bellies, a free-lance music writer named Gabe
Soria (Mojo, Vice) spotted them. And of course we know the rest. In 06', they released their
debut album titled "Through These Reins and Gone" (which is permanetly out of stock).
2007 was a new year for the Felice Brothers which also meant a new album. In the early part
of the year they released "Tonight at the Arizona" on Loose Records which is a label based
out of the UK. The Felice Brothers their chance to show non-americans how true americana
works. In the summer of 2007, they got to go on their first tour, with headliner Bright Eyes.
That tour is where I, myself, got introduced to the Felice Brothers. Also, on this tour the
band had another cd available, "The Adventures of the Felice Brothers Vol. 1", which was only
available at live dates. In 08' after a successful tour and new fans the Felice Brothers were
proud to announce their signing to Team Love Records. Also, to start of 08' the band was
glad to announce their new official bandmate Farley. Now the Felice Brothers get to travel
and perform all over the world. Showing people what the Felice Brothers are all about, and if
you are one of the lucky people that gets a chance to see this amazing monster of a band
play: Do yourself a favor and dont miss it. In my mind, they are the stuff that legends are
made of and no where short of genius.
